Centro Europeu de Línguas is a privately-owned independent language training organisation in Portugal with schools in Lisbon and Oporto, specialised in adult learning, especially for specific professional objectives, an area in which we have achieved widespread recognition, both at national and European levels. Since our foundation in 1982, we have therefore put into practice the Council of Europe’s guidelines on adult language learning.

Centro Europeu de Línguas has two forms of accreditation, reflecting the two main areas in which we work. On one hand, our school is licensed by the Ministry of Education in Portugal, and on the other hand we are also accredited by DGERT (the vocational training division of the Ministry of Labour) as a vocational training provider.

Besides a complete range of courses in several European languages, we also provide specialised courses for specific professional objectives and also vocational qualification for language professionals in two different areas: language teaching and translation. Our initial vocational training course for language teachers is approved by IEFP, the Portuguese Institute for Employment and Professional Training.

We have had European project experience continually since 1987, regularly participating as a mobility promoter in several programmes (especially Leonardo da Vinci), and have also co-ordinated 3 Leonardo language competence projects for different professional sectors, one of which (“Constructor 2000”) won the European Label for Innovative Initiatives in language teaching/learning 2000. We are committed to innovation in learning.
